Swoon Thursday

Soooo...I killed my Kindle...again. I am now on the fourth one. The first one sank into the swamp. The second one burned down and sank into the swamp. The third one burned down, fell over then sank into the swamp. But I am hoping the fourth one stays, because I am so bleeping tired of having to re-format my kindle folders and load from the archives.

For crying out loud, I have 111 books to read, 90 still archived which are public domain classics, poetry, etc, 21 books read and 131 samples I've downloaded over time to check out.
And don't get me started on the physical books, we're not talking about the physical books here.

The only reason I mention it is because I was in the middle of reading Half-blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout and I was at a particularly tense scene, the Apollyon first walks on the page, when I discovered my Kindle had died.

Between you and me, I'm not ruling out fowl play. The first Kindle was from my hubby. My niece, now 9, then about 6, tried to remove the Kindle from the cover and bent something. It never worked right after that. After much encouragement, I convinced him to order a new one and give me the old one as I was sure I wouldn't use it much. Turns out I was wrong.

The first Kindle was always testy and it finally locked, so the only way I could access the content was to have it plugged into the PC. I ordered a new one and we had a happy relationship until my new Kindle developed both vertical and horizontal lines. Since it was under warranty, I was able to turn it in for Kindle # 3, which I had for less than a year when it developed the same condition. I was reading it one a.m. before Christmas and later in the day it had developed lines, both vertical and horizontal. Still under warranty, I had it replaced, so now I am on Kindle # 4, but I didn't get it replaced until after Christmas.  I have resumed reading Half-Blood, which, coincidentally,  is the source of my Swoon for this week.

"I kissed him.

At first, it wasn't much of a kiss. My lips just brushed his, and when he didn't move away, I pushed harder. Aiden seemed too stunned to do much of anything for a few seconds. But then his hands slid up my arms.

The kiss deepened, full of passion and anger. There was also frustration, so much frustration. Then Aiden pressed down, and I wasn't the one doing the kissing. His lips moved against mine, his fingers pressing into my skin. After only a few seconds he broke off the kiss and sprung away from me.

From several feet away, Aiden crouched on the balls of his feet. His heavy breathing filled the space between us. Eyes wide, they dilated until they were almost black."

    1. What can I say? These fingers are lethal. It is getting ridiculous, though. I don't think it's something I'm doing, but two in a row with the same issue? I just can't start over on a new device. There are too many books on it.

  2. Ahhh, I have not read this book yet!!! I've hardened myself not to, because I want the entire series to come out before I read it and end up hating all five books (and the two novellas). I couldn't help myself with the Lux series though -LOVE that series!

Great choice!!! And thanks for stopping at my blog!!!

    1. I only started reading JLA this year. I went to BEA and wanted to get a copy of CUrsed, but alas, was not able to get my hands on it. Then I read a lot of people talking about her books and I thought, perhaps I should jump on this band wagon. The first one I read was Obsidian. Could not put it down. After I read Onyx, I figured I'd give the Covenant series a try and have now read the prequel, Daimon, and Half-Blood. Didn't think I'd like them as much, but I was quite surprised. The fourth book in the Covenant series is coming out shortly. If you like the Lux series, you will most likely love the Covenant series as well.
BTW, I have not read Opal yet. Any thoughts on it?

    1. Thanks for stopping by! I checked your blog out as well.
I can't say it enough. Swoon Thursday is one of my favorite posts and I love seeiing what other people are swooning over. I have found some great books that way.
Now I have to start Pure. The problem I have is that there are about 20 books I want to read as my next book, so I am having a hard time picking one of them. I just keep carrying a stack of books around the house with me. Eventually I'll seriously get into one of them.
