Stacking the Shelves - December 08, 2013

Well, once again I find I am needing to make excuses. It has been a very hectic couple of weeks for me and I have had no time to write.

While I had a wonderful time in Germany visiting my nephew, brother and sister in law, coming back home with less than a week to prepare for Thanksgiving was hectic as I had to food shop (we had about 17 people over), clean the house and take down some of the Halloween stuff. I never had the opportunity to fight the jet lag, which I did do the weekend after Thanksgiving. I slept a lot mixed with intermittent cyber shopping.

Come Monday, it was time to completely take down all the Halloween things and put them away and get the Christmas stuff down. So, all week, I've been working on the Christmas decorations except for the tree. And also food shopping, Christmas shopping, vet appointments, car service appointments, cleaning up after Thanksgiving dinner (which is a multi day event)and any number of other chores and errands that needed to be run.

I've been on vacation this past week, but don't feel like I have been on vacation at all.

Anyway, I've finally been able to sit for a spell and compile all the acquisitions I've made since November 17. I warn you, there are a lot of Kindle titles. I've been trying to clean up my Kindle wish list and my Kindle samples on my iPad, so I've actually been purchasing a lot of the samples I have been reading for the past couple of months. I still have quite a few more samples to go.

With black Friday deals and cyber Monday, I also can't help ordering things I have had on my wish list that are severely discounted. Some of the books I have received are all discount finds I found while shopping for others. Now I just need to find time to start reading it all. There's always vacation after Christmas.

So, here we are...

  1. Whoa! That's a whole lot of books! And congrats on winning The Accidental Werewolf 2! I haven't read that one yet, but Dakota Cassidy is awesome! Hope you've caught up on your sleep by now. Maybe post some pictures of your Christmas decorations? Don't think we're getting a tree this year, so I can live vicariously through you. :)

    1. There's something wrong with me. Far too many books. It's a disease.

Check out today's post for a couple Christmas pictures and a couple pictures from last month's snow. It's snowing again today. We're supposed to get 6 - 10 inches. So glad I'm working from home, but I'd really love a snow day. Sadly, I just got back to work today.

I started reading Dakota Cassidy's book. It's very amusing, but I had to read the book I got for review first. Now I am reading a book I want to read and will go back to the Accidental Werewolf. I'll let you know how it is.

Sleep has been screwy because I have been working a sinus infection and I've been snoring horrifically apparently. Since I've been off, I ended up staying up until 3, 4 or 5 am and sleeping until 11 or 12 some days, so no, I didn't really catch up. But now I'm forced to get back into waking up early. Grrrr.

Not that you need an positive reinforcement, but it seems like this is going to be a very cold, very snowy winter. I was working from home today at least, but I had on a had, scarf, fingerless gloves, 2 layers of shirts, a sweatshirt, a blanket over me, a blanket under me and a little space heater blasting me in the face. I would make a cup of tea that would go cold in under 2 minutes. So, enjoy your mild winter.
