My Wednesday Wish List

Well, I've barely got time to squeak this in before Midnight, but I just might make it.

I have been doing a lot of book-related things, but none of those things are actually reading complete books (only samples) or writing about books. I am trying to change that now, though.

For instance, one of the book-related things I've been doing is cataloging my comics. I downloaded a comic collector database and have been scanning in my comic collection as well as graphic novels and comic related books. I am currently up to about 4,000 titles and probably don't have a lot more to add. I hope. I just love organizing my book-related things. Probably a stall tactic so I don't have to think, but fun never the less.

Another thing I do is periodically go into Amazon and do an advanced search on books. I will search authors, publishers, genres, age brackets. I always do a future search, like the one I just did was all YA published after December 2014. And I've got to tell you, there are some pretty exciting books for me coming out that I just can't wait to get my hands on this year. At the top of the list? Oblivion by Kelly Creagh!!!

This is the final installment of her Nevermore trilogy. Enshadowed came out in 2012 and left off with a very unsatisfying cliff hanger!! And I can't wait to finish the trilogy!!

Wait are you waiting for?

Book Description (From Amazon):
Publication Date: July 28, 2015 | Age Level: 12 and up | Grade Level: 9 and up
This electrifying conclusion to the Nevermore trilogy takes one last trip to the dream world of Edgar Allan Poe to reveal the intertwined fates of Isobel and Varen.

The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins? —Edgar Allan Poe

The fine line between life and death blurred long ago for Isobel Lanley. After a deadly confrontation with Varen in the dreamworld, she’s terrified to return to that desolate and dangerous place. But when her nightmares resume, bleeding into reality, she is left with no choice. Varen’s darkness is catching up to her. To everything. Threatening to devour it all.

Isobel fears for her world. For her sanity and Varen’s—especially after a fresh and devastating loss. To make matters worse, the ghostly demon Lilith wants Varen for her own, and she will do anything to keep him in her grasp—anything.

Can Isobel ever find her happy ending? Worlds collide and fates are sealed in this breathtaking finale to the Nevermore trilogy.

  1. You have 4,000 titles in your comic book/graphic novel collection? Major whoa! I think I have about a dozen, half of them gifts from you. :)

I've never counted my book collection and keep it scattered over several rooms because I'm a little afraid to know how many unread books I actually own. If I knew an exact number, I might curl up into a ball and silently sob at the impossibility of reading them all. Yep, denial isn't just a river in Egypt! ha!

Hope you enjoy Oblivion when it finally comes out!

    1. Yeah. We're talking comics and graphic novel count only. To be fair, I have read the majority of the comics, but the count doesn't include the manga I'm keeping or the comics/graphic novels/manga I'm planning on getting rid of. We won't even discuss the books.

I've got books in the attic, in my bedroom, in Brianna's bedroom, in the library, in the living room and in the basement. Although, the books in the basement are books to get rid of. So, I guess I am talking about the books.

I had an epiphany over Christmas break. At my current pace, I am not even reading one book a week. That is not even 26 books a year. I buy more than that in a year. And don't get me started on the ease of one-click Kindle purchasing. If you don't see the physical book, it's like you don't even have it and I generally spend $3.00 or less on the eBooks. So, it's almost like it's free.

My age, my volume of books, especially that need to be read? You do the math. I can't bear to. I do have a book cataloging app for my iPad and I have been happily entering books into it. I just hope it doesn't have a count function. Because I would freak out.

That being said, none of this deters me from buying new books.
