Stacking the Shelves - February 8th or 9th, 2015

So, I started working on this before midnight, but didn't get it done in time. I really do like having the STS post done before midnight, but I was watching Divergent from beginning to end for the first time. Cable is a wonderful thing.

This week's theme is cheap, cheap, cheap. Cheap as free. Although some were not free, I picked up a few Kindles that were free. I like that. The books are all pre-orders put in several months ago. I really am
trying to be good! So, here's everything...

  1. Nice haul! Looking forward to hearing what you think about Gaiman's new book. You know that I'm a sucker for anything to do with Neil, and that short stories are a favorite of mine. I haven't started reading it yet because I want to savor the moment....yeah, I'm weird. lol

    1. I was a bit disappointed because I ordered the book from Amazon and when I received the book, while not damaged per se, there were definite smudges of greasy finger prints on the cover. I have to see if I can get them off.

Maybe I'll start reading it tonight? I keep trying to make a deal with myself that I will alternate between YA and Adult fiction. I can't really alternate when I haven't read more than one book in like four months. Lots of samples, though.

    2. By the way, he has a new novel coming out this fall called The Sleeper and the Spindle. Sounds beautiful.

    3. Email Amazon and see if they have a new cover they could send you, as greasy fingerprints are unacceptable! Maybe include a picture and let them know you're a collector. And by the way, it's totally your fault that I now closely examine covers from every angle before buying a book.

    4. See that's funny because I have found that I have become less picky. It stems from buying a lot of used and bargain books. I can't always get a pristine copy, so I sometimes have to settle.

But if I'm pulling it off the shelf? Oh, yeah, I check it with a fine tooth comb.

The finger smudges are actually hard to see unless you hold the book in the light just so. I may just take a very mild cleaner and see if I can get it off.

Of course, there's the distinct possibility that it was my greasy fingers when I took it out of the box.

      Either way.
